About Us

‚ÄčThe Saddle Hills Primary Care Network (PCN) is comprised of 3 physicians in Sexsmith and 3 physicians in Spirit River, in a joint venture with Alberta Health Services.

The Saddle Hills PCN began operations in Sexsmith August 1, 2007. Central Peace Medical Centre (Spirit River) physicians joined in September 2010.

Service area population covered by the PCN has grown to approximately 11,400, of which 9,500 (83%) are PCN patients. The service area includes the communities of Sexsmith, Spirit River, Rycroft, Clairmont, Bezanson, La Glace, the M.D. of Spirit River No.133 and the Saddle Hills County. In addition, we also serve residents of Grande Prairie and workers from across the province.

Our PCN works to improve the quality of the health care provided to our communities using these main objectives:

  • Benefit patients by supporting greater integration of primary care services
  • Assist in attracting quality physicians to the area
  • Increase efficiency and build capacity
  • Deliver quality health care utilizing a multi-disciplinary, team-based approach
  • Build sustainable health models for our local communities
